“Finally taking a moment to post about my first FEA Delegate Assembly as the President of the Florida Education Association. I wanted to soak up and capture every moment. We had over 1000 delegates and guests attend the 2016 DA…we were fortunate to have the 42nd POTUS speak to us, had a serious discussion around institutional racism that was facilitated by David Johns from the White House, discussed and debated some important new business items to move our agenda, passed our budget, talked about elections and made phone calls to members to encourage them to vote made some changes to our constitution, said good bye to some dedicated staff, remembered those we have lost this year, heard from the next US FL Senator, Patrick Murphy, had performances from Vikings Freedom Writers, recognized those that have made a commitment to Human and Civil Rights, recognized locals for awesome member growth, and elected a new NEA Director. I could not be more excited or pleased about our DA. It was amazing from start to finish and it was you, the FEA delegates, that made it that way! Thank you for your dedication, commitment and passion for our students, our schools and our profession. Thank you delegates and FEA members for giving me this opportunity. I am honored, humbled and will continue to work tirelessly for every student, every school, every day!! #4EveryStudent”
